Labs

The Microsurgery Teaching and Research Laboratory has been an integral part of the Hand Surgery Fellowship program since its inception in 1977. The microsurgery training program incorporates a variety of challenging microsurgical exercises designed to develop the basic skills for clinical microneurovascular surgery, as well as a broad foundation in microdexterity. The laboratory facilities also provide opportunities for basic science research relevant to microsurgical technique.

Our Hand Fellows work in the lab in regularly scheduled weekly time slots throughout their fellowship. Second and fourth-year residents are also scheduled weekly as part of their ten-week rotation on the Hand Service. Sessions are scheduled such that all participants have the opportunity to work one-on-one with the instructor throughout the course of their training.
