Prospective Students

Thank you for your interest in the School of Medicine. The University of New Mexico School of Medicine (UNM SOM) supports a variety of opportunities to introduce you to the field of Medicine and our programs.

Office of Admissions

Admissions receives and maintains all applications for the medical school. For information on how to apply, what the current requirements are, or to inquire about the status of a current application, contact the Office of Admissions.

High School Students

The Office Student Services coordinates a "Shadowing Program" for current high school students. This program allows you to shadow a physician for 1-2 half days and gives you an insight to what it is like to be a doctor. Contact Cristina Beraun for more information.

Office of Diversity

The Office of Diversity offers programs for middle school and high school New Mexico students interested in medical professions. Click here for more information.

BA/MD Program

The University of New Mexico offers a combined BA-MD degree program aimed at increasing the number of practicing physicians in underserved New Mexico. In this program, students are admitted to the University of New Mexico for both their undergraduate and medical education. Click here for more information.
