a

Greeting from the Director of the
UNM Occupational Therapy Graduate Program

Message from
Dr. Terry Crowe

Cutting Edge Program
We are extremely proud of our cutting-edge entry-level master's program and believe it prepares our graduates for success as practitioners related to the expanding opportunities for Occupational Therapists.
Variety of Practice Settings
Students in our (Master's of Occupational Therapy) program will be prepared to practice in a variety of settings. They will be equipped to take leadership roles as Occupational Therapists in a variety of healthcare arenas, both traditional and emerging.
Traditionally, Occupational Therapists have often worked in hospitals, long term care centers, and schools helping people with disabilities to reach their greatest potential.
Today, occupational therapy practitioners may also find employment providing services in emerging areas of practice such as ergonomics, health and wellness, home design and modification for seniors or people with disabilities, driver rehabilitation and training, or assistive technology training.
Outstanding Curriculum & Faculty
We have assembled an outstanding curriculum that is supported by faculty engaged in every aspect of Occupational Therapy. Our faculty include six Ph.D. level Occupational Therapists, plus a part-time Faculty Fieldwork Coordinator. We are currently recruiting for an additional doctorally prepared faculty member and a faculty member who will also work at the Veteran's Hospital.
Numerous adjunct faculty from traditional and non-traditional areas of Occupational Therapy, research, and other medical professions complement the core instructional staff. Our faculty and students take advantage of outstanding research facilities and support offered within the UNM School of Medicine and are making significant contributions to occupational therapy literature.
Beautiful Location
New Mexico is truly a "Land of Enchantment" with an unsurpassed beauty and cultural heritage. Albuquerque is in a magnificent high desert setting, close to many unspoiled natural resources.
Spectacular nearby mountains offer outstanding skiing, mountain biking, hiking, camping and fly fishing opportunities punctuated by visits to ancient cultural sites. UNM Occupational Therapy students truly benefit from the best of both the scientific and free-time worlds that New Mexico has to offer.
Who May Apply
Students with Bachelors degrees in any area are encouraged to apply and we welcome out-of-state students.  I invite you to review our web site and to seriously consider joining us for your graduate study in occupational therapy.
