Since its inception in August 1998, UNM SES has provided 13,589 days of placement in 25 of New Mexico’s 33 counties.

In 2005, the Program was able to provide 369 days of coverage to University Hospital drawing from our pool of on-call providers.  Coverage was provided to Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Dental Services including Dental Hygiene, ENT, Nephrology, Psychiatry and Surgery.  This is a unique way of staffing our facility using known physicians without paying outside staffing firm rates.  

Since November of 1999, The Division of Dental Services, which includes dentists, dental hygienists, dental anesthesiologists and orthodontics has provided 3,456 days of service which represents 25% of SES total placement days.

In FY 2005, Specialty Extension Services increased the number of placement days by 76%.  The participating 23 specialties were:
