Resident and Graduate Assisted Placement Services (RAPS & GAPS) strives to increase UNM health professions graduates choosing to practice in underserved areas in New Mexico.
Functions of the program are to:
- Inform prospective UNM health professions graduates and trainees about
practice opportunities in NM.
- Provide seminars to enhance life-skills including: conducting a job search, coping with practice realities, negotiating contract and planning for a successful practice.
- Six seminars a year are taught by experts (lawyers, insurance sales people, state agencies and university staff). Seminars are attended by primary and sub-specialty medicine residents, graduate level nursing, ancillary and allied health professional students.
- Disability insurance.
The program is operated by the Office of the VP for Community Health in collaboration with the Office of Graduate Medical Education.
