Several pathology professional societies hold annual meetings and career workshops, have job boards and provide career advice. Try the American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP; www.asip.org/) and the Intersociety Committee on Pathology Information, Inc. (ICPI; www.pathologytraining.org/)

Pathologists are:
Investigators.
Pathologists conduct basic and clinical research t advance the identification, understanding and treatment of disease. 

Diagnosticians. Pathologists perform clinical or public service to identify emerging diseases, provide medical diagnoses and resolutions in forensic medicine.

Consultants. Pathologists offer advice to physicians and government agencies regarding patient and health care.

Educators. Pathologists impart knowledge of disease and disease processes to colleagues, trainees and students.
