The deadlines for application are: Fall semester: July 15 and Spring semester: October 15. ALL MATERIAL MUST BE RECEIVED BY THIS DATE!
Admission Requirements
- BS, BA or equivalent from an accredited US institution, or a recognized foreign institution. If your degree is from a foreign institution, please have the UNM International Admissions Program review your transcripts. Their number is 505-277-5829
- Documented certification as an MT/CLS from ASCP or the NCA. Exceptions will be made on a case by case basis. If you do not have this certification you must have the following pre-requisites:
- Biological Science 2 semesters
- General Chemistry 2 semesters
- Organic Chemistry 1 semester
- Biochemistry 1 semester
- Statistics 2 semesters
- Overall minimum 3.00 GPA (preferred minimum GPA of 3.0 in science classes)
- International students must take the TOEFL and score 580 on paper-based test, 237 on the computer-based test, or 92 on the internet-based test
- GRE Assessment is suggested but not required
- Previous research or laboratory experience is highly desirable.
Admission to this program is highly competitive and attainment of the above minimal requirements does not ensure admission to the program. The admissions process does, however, allow for consideration of students who may not have attained all of the above requirements but have otherwise demonstrated exceptional potential to succeed in graduate study.
