This is a UNM on-line course. Only registered UNM students can log in to the course.

Course Materials

All materials will be submitted using the course software WebCT by the end of each rotation.  The address for the WebCT courses is http://vista.unm.edu.  The course materials consist of 1 exam, a clinical performance evaluation (student checklist), clinical professional development evaluation, and a text box to enter a brief description of a quality control or assurance project completed by the student. Exam: Requires password from Clinical Tech. Please do not share password with student.

Exam should be given in the final week of the rotation.  This exam can be found in the WebCT course from the Exam link on the Homepage.  The student will be able to look at their results in WebCT immediately after they submit the exams.  Click here to view the information covered in the exam.

Student Checklist: Requires password from Clinical Tech. Please do not share password with student.

Theclinical tech is required to fill out a series of checklists.  These checklists can be found in the WebCT course from the Checklists/Evaluation link on the Homepage.  These checklists should be submitted by the end of the course. The Clinical tech can answer a few questions at a time and "Save" before exiting.

Clinical Professional Development Evaluation: Requires password from Clinical Tech. Please do not share password with student.

The clinical tech should sit down with the student at week 3 and review the professional evaluation and identify any problem areas.  The student can find and print an example of the Clinical Professional Development Evaluation form in the WebCT course under Course Information / Clinical Profession Development Evaluation Instructions.  At week 5, the clinical tech should fill out the evaluation in the WebCT course with the student and submit it.  The Clinical Professional Development Evaluation can be found in the WebCT course from the from the Checklists/Evaluations link on the Homepage.

Quality Control Project

If possible, and considering the demands on the participating site and preceptor, the student  should participate in a QC/QA project such as new method or instrument evaluation or write-up, a (real) case study or anything else accomplished outside of the realm of routine bench testing. If completed, the student should prepare and submit a summary of the project at the end of the course. The student should use the password "mudbug" to enter QA/QC project.
