Quentin N. Burdick Rural Health Interdisciplinary Program (RHIP):
This program brings students from various health professions together for shared learning experiences. Student participants gain understanding and appreciation for the expertise each health discipline brings to solving health problems.

Utilizing a problem-based curriculum, teams of health professional students experience a learner-motivated approach to problem solving.

Course Objectives:

  1. Utilize problem based learning method for problem solving and critical thinking
  2. Develop team skills utilizing student centered learning approach
  3. Enhance literature search skills
  4. Develop presentation skills
  5. Gain an understanding of the scope of practice, expertise and functional role of other health professionals

Course Requirements

  1. Active participation in ALL Tutorial sessions, Friday 2-5 pm January - March
  2. Development and facilitation of patient cases for presentation and discussion in tutorial sessions
  3. Participation in all evaluation criteria of the program

Student Evaluation:

  1. Students will be evaluated by team faculty tutor at the end of the course in March
  2. Students must write a report on the tutorial activities and case studies and submit the report by the end of the course in March
