Resident and Departmental Conferences

Weekly:

CP Conference: A faculty led didactic, topics repeat every four years and cover hematopathology, informatics, transfusion medicine, microbiology, chemistry, and molecular pathology.

Call Conference: The on call resident presents, covers topics of calls over the past week, how to deal with difficult calls, quality improvement, and CP teaching.

First Year Resident Conference: Faculty and fellow led slide review covering common and important surgical pathology topics held at the multi headed scope.

Dermatopathology Conference: Dermatopathology faculty present unknown slides covering chapters in a derm path textbook.

Pathology Seminar Series

Microbiology / Infectious Disease Case Conference: Interdepartmental faculty and resident run conference of unknown Infectious Disease cases at the VA and the University.

Microbiology Plate Rounds: Resident and faculty led interdepartmental conference covering infectious disease cases at the University and VA, with review of plates or slides for selected cases.

Neuropathology Gross Conference: Faculty and resident led brain cutting of autopsy cases.

Neuropathology Slide Review: Faculty led review of histology from brain cutting cases.

Forensic/Autopsy Interesting Case Conference and Toxicology Review: Faculty led review of challenging cases at the Office of the Medical Investigator.

Monthly:

Gross Conference: Residents on surgical pathology at the University, VA, Office of the Medical Investigator, or Presbyterian present gross specimens for differential diagnosis and discussion of pathology.

Journal Club: Faculty and resident led review of two articles on an AP or CP topic.

Neuropathology Conference: Neuropathology faculty led didactic or unknown slide conference.

Lumps and Bumps: Faculty led unknown slide conference.

Cytology Conference: Faculty or fellow led didactic or unknown slide conference.

CTTR: Resident led review of California Tissue and Tumor Registry unknowns.

Citywide Hematology Conference: Hematopathology faculty/fellow/resident led discussion of current cases at hospitals throughout the city.

Tumor Marker Conference: Hematopathology faculty/fellow didactic conference.

Seasonal:

First Year Introductory Conference: Introduction to various attendings, tours of various sites, overview of basic and important concepts in different rotations, held in July.

Robbins Review: Resident led review of chapters in Robbins Pathologic Basis of Disease, held during July and August.
