Pediatric Residency Program

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the Pediatric Residency Program at the University of New Mexico. We offer our housestaff a well-balanced pediatric education in a supportive and collegial atmosphere. We are very proud of what we have here, and we hope you will find it as exciting and stimulating as we do.

As the only pediatric residency training program in the state, we take seriously our mission of caring for all aspects of New Mexico's children. We provide primary, secondary and tertiary care to ill children. We also work to prevent illness, improve the health status of our families, and insure access to quality health care for all children.

While we work hard in the hospitals and clinics, we are proud of our ability to play hard as well. We live in the Land of Enchantment, remember. New Mexico is an outdoor enthusiast's dream and within 30 minutes of our institution is fantastic hiking, camping, skiing, snow boarding, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Albuquerque and Santa Fe (a short 45-minute drive) offer world-class cultural opportunities, including opera, theater, museums and restaurants.

New Mexico is diverse--one of only two states (Hawaii is the other) where Caucasians are in the minority. We embrace this diversity; it is a true strength of our program. Our patients, our housestaff, our faculty and staff come from a wide range of background and all are woven into the fabric that is our residency family.

Come visit us, and see first hand what we are so excited about. Come be enchanted.
