Scholarships


Here are some examples of the scholarships offered to Physical Therapy students:


LOVELACE –UNM PT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Lovelace Health System sponsors a scholarship program for 2nd and 3rd year UNM PT students. The scholarship covers the annual tuition and costs of the PT program as estimated by the UNM PT School Administration. The students that receive the scholarship make a commitment to work for Lovelace Health System for the number of years that they received the scholarship. Lovelace Therapy Services provides care at multiple sites of care and levels of care throughout the Lovelace system. This includes four outpatient clinics, four acute care hospitals and Lovelace Rehabilitation Hospital, the only CARF accredited rehabilitation hospital in New Mexico. DR. DAN C. TRIGG MEMORIAL HOSPITAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Presbyterian Healthcare Services at Dr. Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari, New Mexico offers a scholarship to cover the cost of in-state tuition, fees and books plus a $250/month stipend. The scholarship is offered to one student only at any level within the UNM Physical Therapy Program. The student commits to work for the Hospital one month for each month of scholarship assistance that he/she receives. THE NEW MEXICO AMERICAN PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSOCIATION

The New Mexico APTA offers the Fred Rutan Scholarship Award and the Liz Barnett Scholarship Awards. Five hundred dollars per award is given to second or third year students. Application is made by the student during the course of the Program.


NEW MEXICO GRADUATE SCHOLARS AWARD (formerly 3% Scholarship)

Stipend: The New Mexico Graduate Scholars Award is an award in the amount equivalent to full-time graduate tuition and GPSA fees for which a student is registered during the Fall and Spring semesters. Full time for graduate students is considered to be nine semester hours.

Purpose: The purpose of the award is to provide financial support for New Mexico residents and to promote progress toward completion of the graduate degree.

Eligibility Criteria: Recipients must be residents of the State of New Mexico at the time of nomination and full-time degree-seeking graduate students in the nominating department during the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters.

Although the fellowship is awarded primarily on the basis of academic merit, it is preferable that a nominee demonstrate financial need.

NOTE: It is the responsibility of the student to verify their residency status.

Nominating Procedures: Each participating college determines its nominees based on the award amount allocated for the year. Graduate units should contact their college dean's office to determine nomination procedures within their college.

Nomination Deadline: Determined within colleges; check with the graduate unit.

Award Procedures: When colleges finalize the award decisions for their students, the names should be forwarded to the Financial Aid Coordinator, Office of Graduate Studies, Humanities Bldg 107, for eligibility verification and entry into the Financial Aid system.

Award Announcement: Award announcements are made by the graduate unit
