Research
Research projects in SPUR-Net are typically developed in one of two ways. Investigators interested in partnering with SPUR-Net are asked to present the
project to the network’s Executive Committee.
A second approach to developing projects is for a member of the network to propose a study to the Executive Committee. SPUR-Net has participated in both internally-funded and externally-funded research projects, involving members of the network and investigators from other institutions.
SPUR-Net’s priority research areas are chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia), cancer prevention, and medication safety. Methods used in related projects include the use of health informatics technology, mixed methods (quantitative and qualitative), decision support tools, and informed decision aids.
