Clinical Programs
The UNM children's Psychiatric Hospital (CPH), located on the Health Sciences center campus, is a JCAHO-accredited psychiatric inpatient facility. CPH programs are housed in six cottages, an onsite school, and a partial hospital building, all located on nine landscaped acres between the mountains and the mesas. Currently, CPH includes 26 acute inpatient beds, 30 residential treatment beds, and 27 partial hospital desks. Programs are designed for specific ages and developmental needs. The on-site special education school provides a structured learning environment and is an integral part of the treatment programs.
Treatment modalities include emergency assessment; individual, group, and family therapies; pharmacotherapy; milieu therapy; special education; pediatric care; and various adjunct therapies. Represented clinical disciplines include child and adolescent psychiatry; child psychology; clinical social work; special education; counseling; psychiatric nursing; recreational therapy; educational psychology; speech/language therapy; occupational therapy; behavioral pediatrics; pharmacy; and the art therapy. Clinical training is centered around experience working as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
Programs for Children Adolescents (PFC&A) is the Division's outpatient diagnostic and treatment facility. PFC&A is located on the Health Sciences Center campus between the Adult Mental Health Center a wide variety of outpatient-based programs. Both on-site and community-based. These programs include; urgent assessment; intensive outpatient crisis intervention; individual psychotherapy; family therapy; group psychotherapy; focused treatment groups; home-based therapy; behavior management specialists; case management; forensic assessment; school-based programs; psychopharmacology clinics; psychological testing; rural outreach.
The school-based programs include six multidisciplinary clinics (with pediatrics and family medicine) located in six Albuquerque schools, and mental health professionals in an additional seven-based sites. Division faculty and staff are also involved in numerous outreach programs across New Mexico, including services to the Navajo Nation, several Pueblos, Head start, and various other New Mexico communities, agencies and institutions. Interns and fellows are encouraged to participate in these outreach services. Division faculty and trainees also provide services to residents of the Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center
