The Center for Rural and Community Behavioral Health has long recognized the importance of integrating behavioral health and primary care as a means to improve the quality of health care provided by primary care providers, as well as to enhance the availability of behavioral health services to the people of our state.

 

Goals:

• Increase availability of behavioral health services in primary care sites
• Increase competence of primary care providers in the behavioral health fields
• Provide mental health evaluation and services for people with intellectual disabilities.

 

Activities:

• Training of primary care providers in behavioral health through consultation, co-located services, trans-disciplinary, trans-departmental, training programs
• Providing behavioral health services in rural and community health care sites for children adolescence and adults including substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
