Comprehensive Programs to Strengthen Physicians’ Training in Geriatrics

Donald W Reynolds Foundation Award    

The aims of this research are:  1) incorporation of a comprehensive geriatrics curriculum into the medical school, 2) expansion of geriatric training an competency in the three community-based family medicine residency programs to assure excellence in geriatric graduate medical training statewide, and 3) strengthen geriatric training for community-based primary care physicians throughout New Mexico, first through the vast network clinical preceptors affiliated with the University of New Mexico, and then through the network of physicians served by the Indian Health Service (IHS), Area Health Education Centers and state primary care associations.
