At the university I spend lots of time teaching and seeing young patients. I enjoy teaching medical students and psychiatry residents and child psychiatry fellows and family practice and pediatric residents. With medical students, I circuit ride, precept, and participate in the Neuroscience Block. I coordinate the child psychiatry rotation for the general psychiatry residents and teach in the Normal Development seminar for the Child Psychiatry Fellows. Clinically, I see a large proportion of Spanish-speaking children ages 2-18 at Young Children’s Health Center and Program’s for Children. A clinical interest that continues to grow for me is children with autism spectrum disorders. Outside of the university, I try to spend as much time as possible with my husband Gerardo and our two sons Marco and Alec and traveling to see our extended families in North Carolina and Mexico. For relaxation, I enjoy painting, mosaics, women’s soccer, reading good fiction, and ethnic cooking.
