Areas of Specialization: Director of the Department’s Residency Program. Clinical expertise in pharmacologic treatment of schizophrenia, and in coordination of primary care and psychiatric services. Research interests in functional neuro-imaging of social perception.

Research results: Areas in red/yellow indicate patches of cortical activity in the ventral temporal lobe in response to viewed facial expressions of disgust, in the brains of a control group (left) and a group diagnosed with schizophrenia (right). Images are from a magneto-encephalography study of facial emotion recognition in schizophrenia and control populations conducted by Stephen Lewis, MD.
