PGY-1

For interns on psychiatry at the VAMC, call is approximately every 7th or 8th night. Interns usually take call 2 week nights and 2 weekend days per month. Call on other services varies by department.

PGY-2

In the second year, call is approximately three times per month at the UNM Psychiatric Center.

PGY-3

In the third year, call is usually twice per month at the VAMC. Residents are allowed to take call from home if they are available to the VAMC within 15 minutes.

PGY-4

Our program generally tries to keep the fourth year free of call. Fourth year residents are expected to "pitch in" in times of emergency.
