Social Activities
New residents and fellows and their families are immediately welcomed to
the department upon their arrival in Albuquerque. A welcome "happy-hour"
is usually scheduled during the first week of July. In addition to the many informal
resident gatherings, other annual activities generally include activities such as a
welcome barbecue and welcome gathering at the Country Club, a department-wide weekend of
four-wheeling in the San Juan chain of the Rocky Mountains (near Ouray, Colorado),
and a formal winter retreat for the entire department during the month of December.
