Fellowship Application Instructions

Step 1:  Applicants are required to be:

  • A graduate of an ACGME accredited Radiology Residency Program  or
  • A graduate of an AOA accredited osteopathic school in the United States  and
  • Certified by the American Board of Radiology at the starting of the fellowship  and
  • Eligible for licensure by the state of New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners  and
  • A U. S. citizen, resident with a valid work permit, or visitor with a J-1 visa

We do not release the average USMLE scores of our applicants or accepted fellows.  All completed applications from qualified applicants, including foreign medical graduates, will be reviewed.

Step 2:  Research Our Program

Please visit the Department of Radiology Web Site at  http://hsc.unm.edu/som/radiology/index.shtml, which contains in-depth details about our fellowship programs, affiliated institutions, current fellows and faculty, and the greater Albuquerque area.  Our web site is accessible from any computer with internet access.  Our site is also easily accessible from a hyperlink from the Fellowship and Residency Electronic Interactive Database Access (FREIDA) web site.

Step 3:  Submit an Application

Please send a completed application form with photo and your CV, USMLE Step 1, 2 and 3 exam scores and 3 letters of recommendation to:

Step 4:  Receive an Invitation for a Personal Interview

After review of the submitted applications, selected applicants are invited to visit our program and personally meet with members of our Fellowship Selection Committee, which is composed of both faculty, fellows, and our Program Coordinator.  Travel and lodging information is also provided on our web site.

Step 5:  Participate in "The Match"

Submit your Rank Order List to the National Residency Matching Program electronically via the Web using the Rank Order List and Input Confirmation (ROLIC) System.
