A
career in medical physics offers the prospective student with the challenge of
applying his/her knowledge of physics to the practice of medicine. There is a
high degree of responsibility required of medical physicists, who interact
professionally through the American Association of Physicists in Medicine
(AAPM), a branch of the American Institute of Physics (AIP). Should you desire
additional information about the field of medical physics, we recommend reading the AAPM's
Medical Physicist web page.
For a sampling of current research topics in medical physics, preview recent
issues of the following journals: Medical Physics (published by the AIP),
Physics in Medicine and Biology (published by the Institute of Physics, UK), and
International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics (published by Pergammon Press).
