Committee Membership

Committee (HRRC) Structure

HRRC committees have diverse membership as required by Federal Regulations.

Every committee is composed of scientific as well as non-scientific members.  This includes but is not limited to ministers, community representatives, lawyers, ethicists, scientists, and health care professionals.

Additionally, representation from the VA Medical Center, the pediatric department, and prison community is required when the committee reviews research proposals involving children or neonates, pregnant women, subjects from the VAHCMC, or prisoners.

Commitment From Committee (HRRC) Members

The members of the HRRC volunteer their time to serve on this committee.

Members are expected to:

Members undergo training prior to having voting privileges.  Members are asked to serve for a minimum of 3 years.

Finding Members

Members are sought from the University based on the need for diversity and expertise.

Community representatives (individuals who have no affiliation with the university) are usually harder to find and are often recruited via word of mouth.

If you have an interest in serving on this committee, please contact the HRRC support office (505-272-1129) to discuss.
