More Information/Education about research for participants
Our Office will be adding more resources - this is just a preliminary list to get things started.
Get
Research Smart - A web site that provides basic information to
potential research subjects to assist them in making decision about
whether to participate in research studies.
Coalition of Cancer Cooperative Groups - Has abundant
education about cancer
clinical trials.
Entering a Clinical Trial: Is It Right For You -
An excellent and honest, 20 minute video. "Patients often have
misconceptions about clinical trials that could influence their decision to
participate. Dana-Farber, in collaboration with Brigham and Women's Hospital,
Massachusetts General Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, has
produced an audiovisual program and educational booklet to dispel these
misconceptions. Using their own words, patients and clinicians explain what
clinical trials are and offer suggestions to help patients decide whether or not
to enroll in a study."
CISCRP - The Center for Information & Study
on Clinical Research Participation. A non-profit organization dedicated to
educating and informing the public, patients, medical/research communities, the
media, and policy makers about clinical research participation and the role that
each party plays as a participant in the process.
Understanding Clinical Trials - What does each Phase entail? - A great
explanation from the Cancer Research UK Organization on the different phases
of a clinical trial.
The Society
for Women’s Health Research - the nation’s only non-profit
organization whose mission is to improve the health of all women through
research, education and advocacy. The Society encourages the study of
sex differences between women and men that affect the prevention, diagnosis
and treatment of disease.
Understanding Child Assent process - The National Cancer Institute has
guides and information on the child assent process.
Latest Information on Research Outcomes - patientINFORM is a free online service that provides patients and their caregivers access to some of the most up-to-date, reliable and important research available about the diagnosis and treatment of specific diseases.
