For studies involving monetary or other support from a federal, commercial, or non-profit entity, the investigator will be asked to complete a Sponsorship Information and fees form, which will guide the investigator in determining if fees are due.
When HRRC review fees are required, payment is due upon submission of a New Study or Progress Report.
The HRRC does not routinely provide IRB review for studies conducted by non-UNM entities or Investigators. On occasion, the HRRC will serve as the IRB for a non-UNM project when there is a clear collaborative arrangement with UNM, involvement of a UNM Faculty Member and the study is conducted in accordance with Section 2.7 of our manual "Serving as the IRB for an Unaffiliated Entity"
Review fees for non-UNM studies/investigators are as follows:
One-Time Review would include HRRC review for publishing case reports or review of studies involving retrospective collection of data that are determined to be no more than minimal risk. Any IRB required audits due to suspected non-compliance, complaints, or other reasons that suggest a risk to subjects would be billed for a rate of $45 per hour for preparation, review and reporting of such audits.
On occasion the HRRC will waive required fees.
In order to request a waiver, attach the following to your submission (new study or progress report):
Please be aware that it is the Investigator's responsibility to include HRRC review fees within their budget when requesting funds from a sponsor.
Any questions regarding fees can be directed to the Program Operations Director, Michael Briggs or 272-1147. Please include the PIs name, study title and HRRC number if one has been generated.
If you submit a study that requires a fee and it is withdrawn by the PI or sponsor:
