New Web-Based Training to Replace Current On-line Human Subject Investigator Training:
UNM is proud to announce that the online, Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI) course,
managed by the University of Miami, will be made available for UNM investigators in the coming months.
- All investigators and key research personnel (HSC and main campus) will be required to complete this new course.
- This includes any researchers with ongoing human subject research and/or any investigators submitting new research proposals.
- This training will be required every two years.
Keep an eye on this site and we will keep you updated as to how to access the training.

Enrollment Target Numbers and Numbers of Subjects

Your Target Number should remain the
same
throughout the study, unless you have submitted an amendment form to change
it.
- Number of Subjects Enrolled must equal
total number of subjects enrolled from each progress report.
This would require you to look back at your prior progress reports and
ensure that you are reporting the correct numbers.
If it is a multi-center trial, you will need to include
all of the applicable target and enrollment numbers
The UNM HSC Human Research Protections Office and The Human Research
Review Committee (UNM HSC Internal Review Board - IRB)
- Provides regulatory guidance and training for over 500 investigators and research coordinators
- Processes over 3500 research actions per year
- Provides preliminary administrative review of all incoming HRRC submissions
- Assures that all human subject research at the UNMHSC adheres to the Federal, State and institutional regulations regarding research on human subjects
Received full accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protections Programs (AAHRPP). This accomplishment:
- Adds value to our ability to review and conduct ethically sound research
- Creates higher standards and raises the benchmark for the scientific merit of UNMHSC human research
The Human Research Protections Office is seeking a Senior Human
Research Review Analyst to join our Human Research Protections
team.
The position is responsible for providing pre-review of human research
protocol submissions for compliance with federal regulations and
institutional policies prior to submission to the Human Research Review
Committee (HRRC), which governs human subjects research at the University of
New Mexico Health Sciences Center.
In addition, this position provides technical support and guidance to
faculty, staff, and students with respect to potential regulatory issues
within research proposals. This position is also responsible for
guiding and coordinating the activities of subordinates, as appropriate.
