Submissions

Basic requirements

  1. Use RAC application forms that are available in Word. Use NIH format in Arial, Helvetica, Palatino Linotype or Georgia typeface and a font size of 11 points or larger. A symbol font may be used to insert Greek letters or special characters; the font size requirement still applies. Use standard size paper and at least 1/2 inch margins (top, bottom, left and right) for all pages. Application must be single-sided and single spaced.
     
  2. Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement must be submitted for each investigator on the project.
     
  3. Letter of support from the Department Chair must include clear statement of departmental commitment regarding protected time for research and departmental funding for cost sharing of the proposed research
     
  4. Please use color copies of photographs for reviewers.

Resubmissions

Resubmissions of revised RAC applications, interim-funding requests, and unfunded peer-reviewed grant categories must include the complete application (including budget and personnel sheets) signed off by the applicant's chair, the revised grant with changes marked, summary statements from previous grant application and the responses to the reviewers' comments.

Use of Human Subjects

Proposals involving human subjects must have approval from the Human Research Review Committee (HRRC) prior to award. RAC proposals will NOT be considered for review until an HRRC approval has been applied for. The RAC award will not be allocated until HRRC approval is granted.

Use of Laboratory Animals

Proposals utilizing laboratory animals must have a completed Laboratory Animal Utilization form from the HSC Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) prior to the initiation of the research. RAC proposals will NOT be considered for review until an IACUC approval has been applied for.

Fiscal Year 2012 Application Deadlines

Proposals must be received by 5 p.m. on the proposal due date as specified below. Original proposal and fourteen (14) copies should be sent to: Chair, Research Allocation Committee, MSC08 4560, BMSB Room B61. Notification of the grant status will be available in writing approximately 1 month after the submission date.
