Summary of Program

This is an interdisciplinary competency-based concentration of studies — for those who have already attained a terminal degree — using adult learning principles as its foundation.  There are twelve domains of study selected as areas of competency from successful clinical and translational researchers. The program is designed to ensure that all learners have the opportunity to develop competency in all twelve domains The program consists of a 38-credit individualized learning experience with a required 16-credit core curriculum, 16-credits of electives and a 6-credit thesis.  Objectives are linked to formative and summative assessments to provide learners with sufficient feedback to gauge their progress in attaining competencies. Program coursework is scheduled to accommodate the working student.  Level I competencies are semi-structured seminar discussions/presentations. Competencies  above Level I are primarily independent study with goals and objectives established by the student and his/her research thesis advisor.
