MS and PhD Admission Requirements
Deadlines and Review Cycle
The priority deadline for applications is December 1, 2007 (for both
domestic and international applications). Applying to the Program early
is strongly encouraged.
Applications will be accepted until March 1, 2008. Only complete applications
are reviewed. The application review process begins in late January
and continues until June. Opportunities to visit our campus are primarily
available to applicants who have submitted applications by the priority
deadline.

-
GRE score must total a minimum 1500 (old score) or minimum 1000
and 3.75 on the written (new score). We do not require the Subject
Test.
-
International students must take the TOEFL and score 580 on the
paper-based or 237 on the computer based.
-
Previous research or laboratory experience is highly desirable.
Admission to the graduate program is competitive and attainment of the
above minimal requirements does not ensure admission to the program. The
admissions process does, however, allow for consideration of students
who may not have attained all of the above requirements but have otherwise
demonstrated exceptional potential to succeed in graduate study.
Financial Support
Financial support packages are offered to highly qualified first-year
PHD students. This package includes an annual stipend of $23,000 (2007-08
amount), student health insurance, tuition and fees. Early application
insures consideration for these stipends. After the first year, students
are funded by their dissertation advisor, training grants, or the advisor's
department.
