Welcome!

The Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program offers students an exciting opportunity to gain a broad understanding of the biomedical sciences in a spectacular southwestern setting. We are extremely proud of our interdisciplinary and cutting-edge program and believe it prepares our graduates for research and success in the modern world of Biological and Medical Sciences.

We have assembled an outstanding curriculum that is supported by a vigorous faculty engaged in nearly every aspect of basic biomedical sciences. From modern virology and neurosciences, to molecular genetics and cancer biology, the University of New Mexico's Biomedical Sciences faculty are making significant contributions to a variety of medically related research topics. Our students, faculty and staff take advantage of exceptional research facilities in order to compete at the apex of their fields. In addition to our School of Medicine faculty, the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program is complemented by affiliated faculty in the UNM College of Pharmacy, Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute and Los Alamos National Laboratory. In total, our program offers students the opportunity to work in over 100 different affiliated laboratories!

New Mexico is truly a Land of Enchantment with an unsurpassed beauty and cultural heritage. Albuquerque is in a magnificent high desert setting, close to many unspoiled natural resources. Spectacular nearby mountains offer outstanding skiing, mountain biking, hiking, camping and fly fishing opportunities, punctuated by visits to ancient cultural ruins or sharing in the unique celebrations of our rich cultural diversity. Students in our Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program truly benefit from the best of both the scientific and the leisure worlds that New Mexico has to offer.

Thank you for your interest in our program. Come see why so many students are considering joining our graduate study program. We look forward to hearing from you.
