* Human Anatomy: Students enrolled in Biomed 544 will take the Human Structure, Function, and Development block of Phase I of the SOM medical curriculum. This course runs for 10 weeks from early August until the end of September each year and includes labs, lectures and tutorials. Students taking this course will be eligible to be teaching assistants in the HSFD block during subsequent years.

*** Teacher Training Workshops in addition to those included in the Teacher Training course may be taken for credit. These are offered through the Teacher Education and Development (TED) office of the School of Medicine. 15 hours of class time are required for 1 credit. Teaching Assistant Resource Center (TARC) workshops may be added to them to reach the necessary credit hours. The workshops may be bundled as follows or by individual arrangement. **** Teaching Assistant Practicum: Students must enroll in BIOM542 for a minimum of 2 credits. Additional credits may be earned by additional teaching. All teaching experiences to be applied toward the Certificate must be approved by Certificate Program advisors.

Possibilities for the teaching practicum include (but are not limited to):

• BSGP Courses
• SOM Phase I Blocks (labs or tutorials)
• Dept. of Biology Courses by special arrangement
• CNM Community College courses by special arrangement

#Independent Educational Immersion for Teaching Scholars: Students must complete an independent, scholarly educational project. Possibilities include serving as a course instructor or involvement in course, case or assessment tools development, among others.

## The following Educational Psychology and Educational Leadership courses, offered through the School of Education, are 3 credits each:
