Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI)
CITI is the required training program for all principal investigators and any investigator (this includes any person who is responsible for the design, conduct, or reporting of a UNM human research activity). This training is in place for both Main Campus and the HSC HRRC.
New research proposals can be reviewed while investigators are completing the training, however no study decisions can be released until the training is complete.
The Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI):
Designed by, and is updated and maintained by a number of nationally known IRB professionals and is housed at the University of Miami.
Designed around topic-specific modules, each followed by a short quiz. The number of modules needed for completion depends on the "learner group" with which a person identifies. (See the instruction links below for more information)
Does not have to be completed in one sitting. CITI is user-friendly and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
This training is accepted by the
National Institute of Health. We have developed an
interactive
Adobe letter to send to Rena Vinyard for your Human Research grant. After
filling it out, mail it to Rena Vinyard. She will create a final letter for you.
VA Investigators have more stringent requirements. If you are a VA investigator, you will need to email the NM VA Office for more information on how to register for CITI.
Before Going to CITI - You need to print out a set of Instructions. The following links will open a word document.
If the study you are working with involves any medical procedures (i.e., blood draw, etc.) then use the biomedical Investigators instructions; otherwise, use the Social/Behavioral instructions.
