CITI is Required Training for all UNM investigators * involved in Human Research
Initial Training
Before going to CITI- you need to print out a set of
instructions on how
to register; if you don't follow the instructions, you may end up
with more modules than you need!
The instructions have a link to the CITI website.

*Investigator is
any person who is responsible for the design, conduct, or
reporting of a UNM human research activity. For these purposes, any
individuals who are performing data entry and do not have access to
identifiable information are not required to complete CITI.
Recertification Training
When it is time to recertify (every 2 years) the CITI program should send you
an email with your username and a link to have your password emailed to you.
Apparently this is reminder notice is not working right now, so you may need
to use the following instructions to sign on and recertify:
If you know your username/password
- Go to the CITI
website
- Sign-in to the system
- After sign-in you will be in your Main Menu
- Click on the red, underlined "Enter" you see in your Main Menu
screen (towards middle)
- This will take you to the modules
If you don't know your username/password:
- click on
Forgot Login Information
- Follow the instructions for the information to be emailed to you
- Follow instructions for "If you know your username/password" (Above)
As the recertification is a reminder of what investigators should already know from
taking the full training, this recertification takes only 20-40 minutes.
Training for IRB and HRRC Committee Members and Staff
Members of the review committees and the staff of the HRPO (main campus and
HSC) are required to
take additional modules in CITI. If you are a committee member and
need information on registering for the program, please contact the office
