The University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) is a Level 1 Regional Trauma Center serving the entire state of New Mexico as its only trauma center. UNMH Emergency Department sees 70,000 admissions a year and has 350 beds. We are situated in central New Mexico in the city of Albuquerque. The Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit (TSICU) is actively recruiting nurses for all shifts. Our mix of trauma is 80% blunt, 17 % penetrating and 3% burns. The TSICU cares for patients of all surgical disciplines. For information on burns see the Burn Section of the critical care web page.
The TSICU has medical student rotations, resident rotations and opportunities for critical care fellows.
There is currently a combined EM/Critical Care rotation that has been developed that enables the medical student to spend time learning Neurologic and Trauma Critical Care while also spending time in the Emergency Department.
Feel free to contact Dr. Marinaro for more information about our program.
