Clinical Practice includes the Foundations of Clinical Practice (FCP) course for first-year students (FCP), which runs from August to mid-January, and Clinical Skills (CS) curricular elements embedded in Phase I blocks which occur after FCP concludes.

TED CURRICULUM SUPPORT ACTIVITIES:

  • Serving on course steering committee

  • Training faculty to precept small groups; providing logistical support for preceptor orientations

  • Assisting with preceptor recruitment, tracking, and reporting process

  • Working with technical support in ongoing development of electronic processes

  • Reserving rooms

  • Preparing room & group assignments

  • Ordering and maintaining course books, materials, and supplies

  • Preparing, duplicating, and distributing course syllabus for students

  • Preparing preceptor information and distributing it with syllabus to preceptors

  • Assisting with real patient recruitment and maintaining current list

  • Working with Course Directors and Assessment & Learning in the identification of cases for use in teaching with SPs

  • Recruiting Clinical Teaching Associates for teaching activities

  • Communicating with Assessment & learning regarding the scheduling, training, and use of standardized patients in learning and testing activities

  • Attending and supporting regular course meetings and committee meetings

  • Attending and supporting course large group sessions

  • Setting up rooms for small group activities

  • Communicating with students and preceptors about equipment, activities, assignments, etc.

  • Receiving via email and tracking timely submission of written assignments

  • Preparing and distributing student attendance and performance documentation

  • Submitting grades

  • Preparing and sending thank-you letters to patients and preceptors
