All Health Sciences faculty who create multiple choice test items
for health professions students.
Objectives:
After this session, participants should be able to:
• Describe the essential elements of a well-written MCQ
• Critique MCQs based on identified criteria
• Identify the level of thinking being assessed by a specific MCQ
• Explain the benefits to learning of clinical vignette questions
•
Create and/or revise quality single-best-answer questions based on
established
criteria to actualize test blueprint
• Construct a concept-based test blueprint for assessment
• Advocate for evidence-based question-writing principles and
practices
Length/Frequency:
This three and one-half hour workshop is offered two or three times
a year. The next

section.
