Description:
This workshop trains participants to outline and develop a case. Participants develop an actual case for use in a problem-based curriculum.

MD, PhD, PT, OT, DDS, DVM, RN, PA-C, Others

• Case design
• Decisions regarding content, logistics, and format
• Logistical realities
• Desired outcome of case study
• Defining the audience
• Writing the case study
• Defining resources needed
• Evaluating success

Objectives:
After this session, participants should be able to:
• Identify questions that should be considered before beginning to construct a case.
• Explain core guidelines for case construction.
• Develop a case by working through each step in the process.
• Avoid common pitfalls in the construction of cases.

Length/Frequency:
PBL Case Development is offered in conjunction with some sessions of PBL Facilitation Education (Tutor Training) to facilitate the participation of those who wish to take both workshops (participants may take either or both). Tutor Training runs from 12:00-6:00 on two consecutive days, and Case Development runs for four hours (8:00-12:00 or 1:00 to 5:00) on a third day. PBL Facilitation Education (Tutor Training) is offered three to four times a year and the combined PBL Facilitation Education (Tutor Training) and Case Development workshops are offered approximately twice a year.
