Description:
This workshop offers participants strategies and useful techniques for conducting effective teaching during hospital rounds.  Teaching in the inpatient environment can be challenging to both the teacher and the learner.  This workshop will use brief videotaped vignettes as the impetus for discussing effective and ineffective teaching approaches in the inpatient setting.  Participants will have the opportunity to relate concepts and strategies to their experiences.


Target Audience: 
MD, PhD, PT, OT, DDS, PA-C
Faculty and residents who teach in the inpatient setting.

Objectives:
After this session, participants should be able to:
• Use questions effectively
• Distinguish between effective and ineffective approaches to inpatient teaching
• Identify strategies for overcoming barriers to effective inpatient teaching
• Apply identified strategies to participants' own practice
• Apply billing protocol appropriately
 
Length/Frequency:

CME Credit Hours:
The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Office of Continuing Medical Education, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
