Description:

This workshop guides participants in developing and critiquing actual one-best-answer, extended matching, and essay questions in accordance with established test-writing criteria. Participants leave the workshop with guidelines, practice, and one or more quality questions that apply to their area of expertise.
  Target Audience:
MD, PhD, PA-C, PT, OT, Other.
All Health Sciences faculty who create test items for physician assistant and medical students.
 

Objectives:
After this session, participants should be able to:
• Write assessment items that relate to specific learning objectives
• Critique single-best-answer and extended matching test questions in accordance
   with established criteria
• Create and score essay questions designed to assess critical thinking skills
Select performance assessment methods appropriate to measure complex tasks
Design an assessment plan for an educational activity, course or curriculum

Length/Frequency:
This four-hour workshop is offered two or three times a year. The next scheduled session is listed in the Calendar section.

CME Credit Hours:
The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Office of Continuing Medical Education, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Office of Continuing Medical Education designates this activity for 4.0 Category I credits toward the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.
