Research Block

The Research Block is curricular time scheduled during the second year for medical students to have a dedicated four-week period to work on the required research project. Research mentors are responsible for supervising and grading students on time and effort spent on their research during this block; grades of Credit or No Credit, with rating of level of effort and degree to which objectives are met, are reported to the Office of Student Services for inclusion in the students' records. Students must receive a grade of Credit for promotion to Phase II. Students should set a work schedule and list of objectives with their mentors at the beginning of this block to ensure that expectations are clear.
