As an organization involved in billing and collections for medical services, the UNM Medical Group is committed to conducting our business with integrity and on a highly ethical level.
We have confidence in our employees and their commitment to collect, manage and report data in an unbiased, honest and ethical manner.
Our overall policy is that diagnoses and procedure coding is governed by official coding guidelines and that all codes mandated by the guidelines should be assigned and reported. Codes must be correctly submitted and will not be mischaracterized or modified in order to be covered and paid. All services billed will be supported by appropriate documentation in the patient's medical record.
