HSC Web Relaunch and New Templates

  • Other HSC umbrella pages.
  • Design characteristics of the top level pages
  • Standard departmental templates.
Key Design Elements on all Pages
  • Nav bar and footer
  • Fonts for special uses – Twentieth Century and Century Schoolbook
  • ont for body of pages and headers tags – Arial
  • Rectilinear design layout – lots of rectangles and very strong horizontal and vertical alignment.
  • Do not pick and choose from these elements when working on a site. It is preferred that people use the templates that will be provided in the new HSC web author course.
HSC Web Author Class

First class will be held in mid-May. Second in early June. We will establish a regular schedule over the summer. Topics in class:

  • Purpose of HSC Web Sites
  • HSC Web Policy
  • Most important tasks for a web author.
  • Key usability issues.
  • Working with the new HSC templates, based on cascading style sheets.
