Psychology Internship

The Early Childhood track offers a psychology pre-doctoral internship that emphasizes:

  • Infant and early child mental health assessment and intervention.
  • Gaining experience conducting developmental, diagnostic, and specialized evaluations for children 0 - 3 years old in an interdisciplinary team model.
  • Providing diagnostic evaluations for preschool and young school-age children when Autism Spectrum Disorder is involved.
  • Providing services to rural communities in the state via outreach clinics or in family homes.

Interns spend half of clinical hours at the UNM CDD working with our intervention and evaluation programs, and half conducting outpatient psychotherapy and psychological assessment at Children’s Psychiatric Center – Outpatient Services.

The Early Childhood Psychology Internship Track is offered through the University of New Mexico Center for Development and Disability (UNM CDD) in collaboration with the American Psychological Association (APA) accredited internship program overseen by the UNM Department of Psychiatry.
