Biography
Leya is Navajo from Gallup, NM. She is Bit’ahnii (Folded Arms People), Tó’áhání (Near-to-Water Clan), Tsé’ Nahabiłnii (Sleep-Rock People), and Naaneesht’ézhí (Charcoal-Streaked Division). She joined the CNAH team in early 2017 as a Program Assistant. In addition to providing logistical and technical support to CNAH's student and workforce development initiatives, she serves as a tutor for the All Nations Wellness & Healing Center's after-school homework diner. Leya received her Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from the UNM-Gallup branch and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a minor in communications at UNM Main Campus. She plans to apply to Law School during the 2020-2021 school year. Leya enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, swimming, playing pool, reading, fishing, playing Pokémon GO, and video games.
