Leya is Navajo from Gallup, NM.  She is Bit’ahnii (Folded Arms People), Tó’áhání (Near-to-Water Clan), Tsé’ Nahabiłnii (Sleep-Rock People), and Naaneesht’ézhí (Charcoal-Streaked Division).  She joined the CNAH team in early 2017 as a Program Assistant.  In addition to providing logistical and technical support to CNAH's student and workforce development initiatives, she serves as a tutor for the All Nations Wellness & Healing Center's after-school homework diner.  Leya received her Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from the UNM-Gallup branch and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a minor in communications at UNM Main Campus.  She plans to apply to Law School during the 2018-2019 school year.  Leya enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, swimming, playing pool, reading, fishing, playing Pokémon GO, and video games. Leya also loves being the President of the native student organization, Diné of UNM.
