Biography

Joanna Fair, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She earned her PhD in Chemical Physics from the University of Colorado and MD from Washington University in St. Louis. She completed residency training in Radiology at the University of New Mexico and in Nuclear Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, and she is board certified by the ABR and ABNM. Nationally, Dr. Fair is the recent past chair of the American Board of Nuclear Medicine as well as the former president of the Southwestern Chapter of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. She is currently the Chair of the Women in Nuclear Medicine Committee of the SNMMI, as well as a member of the AAMC Advancing Holistic Principles Advisory Committee.

Dr. Fair currently serves as Senior Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education for the University of New Mexico SOM as well as Vice Chair for Academic Affairs in the Department of Radiology. She additionally works within the SOM’s Learning Environment Office. She has spoken regionally and nationally about nuclear medicine imaging and therapy, feedback, and other educational topics. Dr. Fair is married with two school-aged children and is engaged with community service, including as a Girl Scout troop leader.
