Biography

I grew up in Albuquerque, NM, as my Father moved our family here in 1946. He practiced Radiology and Radiation Oncology for 50 years. I attended high school at Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania. I received at BA from Colgate University in 1965 and my MD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1969. I was in the UPHS-HIS in Anchorage Alaska 1970-1972 where I was a radiologist for the 275 bed Alaska Native Medical Center. I completed a Radiology Residency at Duke University Medical and I was Chief Resident in 1975. In 1976-77 I was a Fellow in Gastrointestinal Radiology Research at the University of California San Diego. I returned to Duke University in 1977 as an Assistant Professor of Radiology. In 1982 I was promoted to Professor of Radiology at Duke University.

Chairman Department of Radiology University of Minnesota 1986-2000, Head of GI Radiology Duke University Department of Radiology, Chief Albuquerque VA Department 2021-2017 and Head of GI Radiology University of New Mexico 2017-

Research

I have been doing gastrointestinal and abdominal radiology research for the past 50 years. I have published over 200 scientific articles covering a variety of topics, some of which are gastrointestinal contrast, interventional radiology procedures, fluoroscopic and CT evaluation of disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and cross sectional imaging of diseases of the abdomen.

Courses Taught

I have taught in three different Academic Medical Schools and I have given over 600 presentations worldwide.
