Project ECHO began in 2003, offering low-cost, scalable solution that increased the capacity of health workers in underserved communities to provide best-practice care to their patients. Now, people and organizations from all over the world are leveraging the ECHO model to scale their own social initiatives in other fields like education and social justice; ECHO is changing the world.
The ECHO model uses videoconference technology and enabling software to connect providers in underserved communities (“spokes”) with teams of specialists and experts at regional, national, and global l centers (the “hub”) for long-term telementoring, collaboration, and case-based learning on urgent social topics and conditions.
The Project ECHO team trains and supports hub partners around the world on how to use the ECHO model for priority social challenges. ECHO partners in 40 countries operate more than 860 ECHO networks, which have trained more than 140,000 professionals eager to learn best practices in their field.
Project ECHO is based at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, and across the globe by forming and supporting partnerships with over 250 organizations. The key to our success has been initiatives focused on specific challenges and supported by strong partners.
Project ECHO is a global partnership, which catalyzes the uptake of the ECHO model by our replication partners, who implement ECHO learning communities to meet the needs of their people and reach their goals.

Superhubs
A superhub is an ECHO partner that is authorized to provide training and technical assistance to new hubs and support them as they grow their ECHO programs. ECHO superhubs provide:
Outreach support and training (e.g. ECHO Introduction and Immersion)
Partnership document support to help prospective hubs prepare for Immersion training
Access to ECHO resources and tools, including the Project ECHO Resource Library (PERL) in Box.com, Zoom, and iECHO
Ongoing support and quality assurance to ensure fidelity to the ECHO model
Support to facilitate the sharing of resources and research among the MetaECHO Community
Under the leadership of Dr. (Col) Kumud Rai, Chairman and Dr. Sunil Anand, Executive Director, The ECHO India Trust team works with partners across India.
ECHO India was started as a not-for-profit Trust in 2008. ECHO India has come a long way from its first collaboration with National Aids Control Organisation (NACO) and Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) on managing HIV Aids patients.
Currently, teleECHO clinics in India are run by 15 hubs to tackle different disease states like Addiction and Substance Use Disorders, Mental Health, Tuberculosis (MDRTB), Hepatitis C, Liver Diseases, Cancer Screening and Prevention, HIV, Palliative Care, Corneal Ulcers, Hypertension, Maternal & Child Health.
