Ninety percent of medical oncologists practice in urban areas, leaving rural communities without the capacity to screen, diagnose, and treat patients with cancer, many of whom are diagnosed at later and less treatable stages. People in nonmetropolitan counties are more likely to die from cancer than their urban and suburban counterparts, and that gap is widening.
The ECHO Model amplifies the work of your organization to share best practices and increase provider satisfaction, self-efficacy, and capacity to decrease cancer disparities globally.
By participating in ECHO or starting your own, you develop expertise in cancer prevention, screening and treatment in the following areas.
The Cancer Initiative interactive map locates and lists all Cancer ECHOs happening worldwide. Use this map to find an ECHO to participate in.
If you recently launched a cancer or palliative care-focused ECHO, or you'd like to update the Institute on an already active or completed program, complete our program information form. Your location will soon appear on the interactive map. If you have any questions, contact our team.
The Cancer Collaborative is a monthly call to discuss program challenges and solutions, as well as grant and research opportunities for ECHO Cancer partners. Partners will have the opportunity to present their ECHO as a case to the network to learn best practices in the intricacies of operating an ECHO Hub in the cancer space.
