The aim of our program is to develop participants' skills and expertise in supporting all aspects of excellent community schools. Among the program's features are targeted professional development for issues central to successful community schools, as well as collaborative problem solving and community building.
We offer a virtual community of practice for community school principals, teachers, coordinators and members involved in the New Mexico community schools movement.
The ECHO for Community Schools Program is a collaboration between the ECHO Institute and the New Mexico Public Education Department.

Trujillo is the Community Schools and Extended Learning Coordinator at the New Mexico Public Education Department (NM PED). She has over 15 years of experience in initiating and developing collaborative partnerships with communities, organizations, and institutions; and in leading, planning, and implementing statewide health-related and educational programs. She received a B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology and a minor in Chemistry from the Universidad Metropolitana, in Puerto Rico and a Master’s in Biotechnology with a concentration in Biodefense from Johns Hopkins University.
Townsend is the Director of ABC Community School Partnership. She brings over 20 years of experience in out of school time, youth development and intervention, facilitation and community school development. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's degree in Counseling and is a Certified Dare To Lead TM trainer. Danette has also owned and operated a NM based business since 2002.

Morries joined Robert F. Kennedy Charter School in 2019 and serves as the principal of Robert F. Kennedy Charter High School. Prior to joining RFK, Mr. Morris served as the principal at Van Buren Middle School and the principal and vice-principal at Jefferson Middle School in the Albuquerque Public Schools system. Shawn Morris's professional career spans 23 years in the K-12 education field. He has served as a teacher and as a Community School Principal for 8 years. He has served in the United States Navy as an Intelligence Officer and Yeoman 3rd Class. Shawn has earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts from the University of New Mexico. He has most recently been pursuing his PhD. in Curriculum and Instruction with a Minor in Educational Leadership from the University of New Mexico. Mr. Morris received his Administration Certification from the State of New Mexico in 2013. Sanchez-Griego is the superintendent of Cuba Independent School District. She previously worked as the superintendent of the 'To’Hajiilee Community Schools on the Navajo Nation, in New Mexico, NM PED Assistant Director of Educator Quality, and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction with the Arlington Public Schools. Sánchez-Griego has also served as principal, assistant principal, high school and middle school teacher, with the Albuquerque Public Schools. She was instrumental in the development of one of the first Small Learning Community programs in New Mexico and in the country. Sánchez-Griego was selected as one of New Mexico’s 20 Women Making a Difference in Education and was the recipient for the Governor’s Award for Outstanding New Mexico Women. Email Sanchez-Griego.
