Our mission is to improve the wellness of coal miners, uranium industry workers and nuclear-weapons workers. We are seeing a reemergence of pneumoconiosis, a disease caused by inhaling certain dusts, among these workers because many health care providers do not know how to treat it.
Using the ECHO Model, our program – a partnership between The University of New Mexico and a community-based miners’ hospital in New Mexico – is helping solve this gap in knowledge.
The Miners’ Wellness ECHO program meets virtually every second and fourth Wednesday of the month from noon to 1:15 p.m. Mountain Time.
